CNN.com - Police: Handcuffing girl not a violation - Aug 4, 2005: "The girl's mother, Inga Akins, sold her story exclusively to a tabloid TV show, and her attorneys have notified the city that she plans to sue. "

There are enough idiots in this story that I'm not even going to single them all out. Nice to see the 'parent' will get to cash in...what is this world coming to?

I weep for the present.

Being nice and trying to calm her isn't the right way to do it. What that little brat needed was Joe, Mr. look I accidentaly brought two, to tan her ass. What the cops did on both occasions were the proper way of handling the problem besides whopping her. A good spanking never hurt anyone, it just made you think next time you tried something this stupid.

Trying to calm her down is the first thing that should have been done! There should have been a social worker trying to talk to the child and the parent should have been called BEFORE the police were. No one was in immediate danger except for that child. Handcuffs are not an answer to use with a child of that age. I am appauled that you would even think that using handcuffs on a kindergartener would be the correct answer. Children act out on all occasions -- you need to find out what caused and how to calm her down. If the school knew anything they should have know that they needed someone to talk to her in a room with nothing available for her to touch. Putting her in handcuffs and then placing her in the back of a police car is absurd! Gosh, maybe this Chris guy shouldn't be having any kids???

It's definitely crazy to handcuff this kid. I've seen video and she was definitely going nutso though. Freaky. I don't envy the teacher or the cops in this story. I'm sure the mother isn't exactly in line for mother of the year either if this kid is pulling this stuff at school.

Paraphrasing fark, this is pretty much what her steps were...

1. kid goes psycho
2. call in Jesse Jackson
3. Profit!

Okay Aimee, so what are you, some kind of professional or something. You probably have rotten kids and treat them like angels. Geez, its just one way of training this girl for the future when she gets arrested for prostitution or selling crack to support her boyfriend/pimp.

Look Rich, I think she believes she some kind of teacher. Remember Mitchell, he should have been in cuffs.
